Investment Forum

This is a platform where different stakeholders such as Malawi Government, private sector and individuals will showcase plans, opportunities and services that can be useful in development of Likoma Islands as key tourist destination for Malawi. Pavilions will be set up for organizations to display their products and services.

Island Parade

This is an exciting parade involving all key establishments on Likoma Island such as security agents and traditional dance groups among others. The intention of the parade is to showcase Likoma District potential that it has what it takes to receive investments.

Sports

There will be sporting activities for leisure and fun. These include football, netball, beach volleyball, beach soccer, canoeing, pool and swimming.

Music

Live band performances plus DJ music. A careful selection of musicians to be made.

Traditional Dances

Malipenga, Chioda, Vimbuza (Mashawi), Visekese, Vetserani are some of the traditional dances to be showcased.

Tours and Sight Seeing

The main and unique part of Likoma Festival is the tour from mainland areas to Nkhata Bay and then to Likoma Island. Once on the Island, several groups will be taken on tours to appreciate and feel Likoma Islands.

Festivities will be held in the vessel as well most preferred MV Ilala as the main mode of transportation to Likoma Island.

Dinner and Dance

The reception day will start with a dinner and dance at one of the lodges on the Island. This will be a high level event and participation only by invitation.

Tayamika Awards

The Tayamika Awards has been I existence but it will be infused within the festival. The aim of the award is to appreciate individuals and institutions that have significantly contributed to the development of Likoma District.

Wellness Retreat

Yoga, massage, manicure, pedicure and other treatments will be offered to participants at a fee.

Projects

Several projects of interest to Likoma will be implemented before, during and after the festival. Targeted projects include environmental protection and conservation, business skills development, tourism research and management.
